The Institute of Optics invites applications and nominations for its next Director. This prestigious position involves faculty activities as well as leadership of The Institute.

Founded over 80 years ago, The Institute of Optics houses the oldest academic optics program in the US. The Institute provides comprehensive coverage of the field of optics, both in faculty research and in curriculum, offering BS, MS and PhD degrees in optics. The successful candidate will have a PhD in optics, physics, or a related field, and an outstanding international reputation in optics, with demonstrated excellence in leadership, research and teaching. Applications should include a cover letter describing leadership experience, with separate attachments describing research and teaching interests and a curriculum vitae with a complete list of publications. Applicants should be prepared to provide complete contact information for at least four references upon request.
