Formation and spectroscopy of ultra cold molecules

After an introduction to ultracold molecules and photoassociation, a number of recent topics involving the formation and spectroscopy of ultracold Rb2 and KRb molecules will be discussed:

  • Formation and spectroscopy of high v levels of X state Rb2
  • Resonantly coupled excited states of Rb2
  • Trilobite-like states of Rb2 using v = 35 of the triplet a state
  • Combining molecular beam and ultracold molecule spectra of KRb
  • Formation of KRb X (v = 0, J = 0) from resonantly coupled excited states

Dr. William Stwalley received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Harvard University, 1969 and his B.S. in Chemistry from California Institute of Technology in 1964.
He is currently chair of the Physics department at UConn and specializes in Ultracold Atoms and Molecules and Atomic and Molecular Spectroscopy.
