Short Biography
David M. Berg is an optical system engineering consultant
with more than 20 years experience in machine vision and
optical metrology. Mr. Berg received his B.S. in Physics
from Stanford University in 1979 and his M.S. in Optics
from the University of Rochester in 1983. He worked at Hydroacoustics,
Inc. (Rochester NY), developing sonar arrays and signal
processing techniques. He also developed a micro-bending
fiber optic hydrophone with Prof. Kenneth Teegarden. In
1983, he joined GCA/Tropel (now Corning Tropel), where he
managed systems engineering for Metrology Products, including
image quality (OTF) measurement systems. Mr. Berg has worked
at Eastman Kodak Co. (Federal Systems Division), ESTEK –
a Kodak Company, and spent 11 years with Melles Griot Optics
Group, where he developed lenses and optical subsystems
for Machine Vision applications. Mr. Berg is a member of
OSA and SPIE and is past president of the OSA-Rochester
Section. He founded Oren Sage Technology (www.orensage.com)
in 2006.
