Short Biography
Kenneth J. Teegarden received the Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois in 1954 and he joined the faculty of the University of Rochester the same year. He served as director of The Institute from 1981 to 1987 which were years of rapid expansion and growth in optics. Professor Teegarden recognized that The Institute was in a position to facilitate research in practically any phase of optics and he fostered inter-disciplinary research between the Medical Center, the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, and the departments of physics and chemistry. He continues to supervise the Senior/MS Lab, OPT 256.
