I am currently a Ph.D. student in the group of Prof. Robert Boyd at the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, USA (Wiki). My CV and list of publications are available.
My research area is slow light, particularly focusing on how slow and fast light change the energy density of a pulse of light, with applications to preventing (or enhancing) laser damage and to laser radar.
I am the 2009-2010 secretary for the Rochester Section of the Optical Society of America (OSA). In May of 2009, I also helped found URSPIE, the University of Rochester student chapter of the SPIE.
I completed a M.S. degree in 2005 in the group of Selim Shahriar in the ECE Department (now EECS) of Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA (Wiki). My thesis title was Multi-Spectral Raman Gain in Dual-Isotope Rubidium Vapor, and the research was completed with an eye toward applications in quantum optics.
In 2007, I completed some work on the new UR logo. It was featured in University Communications' newspaper Currents.
I am an active member of the Rochester 4th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormons. If you live near Rochester, why not come to the Hill Cumorah Pageant? It's free, and it runs July 10, 11, and 14–18, 2009. Show starts at 9:15 PM.
