Chapter VIII

Now: The New Millennium

In 2001 Wayne Knox became director of the Institute, returning to his alma mater after 17 years in industry.  At this writing he has been in that position for three years, enough time for his enthusiasm and relentless energy to begin to make their mark.   In the first essay of this chapter we review the beginnings of his tenure as director.  We then present a photographic essay of the people who inhabit the department in its 75th year.   We review the credentials of the faculty who lead the department at this juncture in its history, and finally we present a series of remembrances of experiences as undergraduates in our program by alumni with a special distinction.
